      Position Overview

      Responsible for the scheduling and preparation of the Slate for all elective and urgent/emergent procedures in the Operating Room and Endoscopy Department. This responsibility requires the individual to have a strong knowledge base of the computer based PART and SIMS programs, including not only scheduling of cases but also the ability to troubleshoot, monitor, and evaluate the data in the system.

      Experience

      • Experience in the pre-admission clinic and admitting functions would be an asset.

      Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

      • Completion of Grade XII essential.
      • Completion of a recognized Medical Terminology course essential.

      Qualifications and Skills

      • Computer expertise required with: Word processing, Spreadsheets, Access, E-Booking, PART, Outlook.
      • Typing speed minimum 45-wpm essential.
      • Demonstrated competence in performing scheduling functions essential.
      • Specific working knowledge of SIMS (Surgical Information Management System) would be an asset.
      • Demonstrated competence in the development and administration of statistical reports and summaries would be an asset.
      • Ability to organize and establish priorities under minimal direction.
      • Ability to effectively relate on an interpersonal basis with others and work under stressful conditions.
      • Demonstrate a positive and adaptive attitude towards change.
      • Discreet and confidential in all hospital/patient/resident related matters.

      Physical Requirements

      • Good physical and mental health to meet the position demands.

      This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
