      Job Title: Oracle Database Administrator and PL/SQL Developer

      Classification: Institutional Support

      Location: Saad Al Abdullah, Kuwait

      Position Requires Relocation to Kuwait

      Job Purpose

      The Oracle Database Administrator and PL/SQL Developer is responsible for managing, optimizing, and maintaining AIU’s Oracle database environments. This role combines hands-on administration of Oracle databases with the development and maintenance of PL/SQL code to support administrative and academic systems. The position ensures data integrity, security, and optimal performance of all Oracle-based systems used by the university.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Administer and maintain Oracle databases to ensure high availability, security, and optimal performance.
      • Perform routine performance tuning, capacity planning, and database health checks.
      • Design, implement, and manage backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and Data Pump.
      • Develop, test, and maintain PL/SQL scripts, procedures, and triggers to support business processes and ensure data integrity.
      • Automate routine administrative tasks using SQL and PL/SQL scripting.
      • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues to minimize downtime and data loss.
      • Monitor database security, manage roles and privileges, and ensure compliance with institutional data governance policies.
      • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and academic IT teams to support patching, upgrades, and integration projects.
      • Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations, development standards, and operational procedures.

      Required Skills and Qualifications

      • Proven experience in Oracle Database Administration, including installation, configuration, tuning, and recovery.
      • Advanced proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL development.
      • Strong understanding of Oracle database architecture, security practices, and data lifecycle management.
      • Hands-on experience with Oracle tools such as RMAN, Data Pump, and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
      • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
      • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
      • Familiarity with Oracle APEX, Forms, or Reports is a plus.

      Education and Experience

      • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
      • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Oracle Database Administration and PL/SQL development.
      • Experience in higher education or enterprise-level IT environments preferred.
