      Desired Competencies (Technical/Behavioral Competency )

      Must-Have

      a. Perform Logical Database Administration and Development Support services

      a. Configure and upgrade Database software and related products

      b. Evaluate Database features and related products;

      c. Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures

      d. Perform database design and implementation activities;

      e. Implement and maintain database security parameters, performance monitoring and tuning;

      f. Setup and maintain documentation and standards

      g. Plan growth and changes (capacity planning);

      h. Perform general technical trouble shooting and provide consultation to development teams;

      i. Provide database Patch Management and Version Control

      j. &n bsp; Perform code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the product development life cycle

      k. Provide logical database support as needed to support the relevant Supported Application Service Category services and Development projects;

      l. Recommend required actions to ensure continued performance and integrity of databases;

      m. Develop and maintain processes for database build;

      n. Specify recovery procedures for each new application database;

      p. Identify and evaluate design considerations;

      r. Participate in the development and maintenance of data standards and definitions;

      s. Provide consultation and technical support as required

      t. Perform database version upgrades and associated planning and tasks;

      2. This includes managing data, namely data set placement, database performance, and data recovery and integrity at a physical level, including:

      a. Recommend database administration requirements and policies including authorization requirements for end-users, roles, schemas;

      b. Develop and document in the standards and procedures manual database administration procedures that meet requirements and adhere to defined policies

      c. Provide security administration including managing role and end-user database permissions in accordance with policies and SOPs;

      d. Perform database restores from export dumps or backups;

      e. Create/refresh development/test/QA databases from production data;

      f. &nbs p; Execute authorization Service Requests;

      g. Execute database creation, configuration, upgrades, patches and refresh

      i. Define and execute database performance and tuning scripts, and keep database running at optimal performance

      p. Identify locking conflicts, latch contention, rollback requirements, etc., for all database instances;

      r. Monitor database and generate automatic trouble tickets for Problems and Incidents;

      s. Open, track and Resolve all database Problems in accordance with the Problem Management Process and Incidents in accordance with the Incident management process

      t. Patch database Management

      u. Manage database communication software configuration, installation and maintenance;

      v. Provide database storage management;

      w. Administering database backup and recovery policies

      x. Recommend Database performance enhancements;

      y. Implement and execute database performance enhancements in accordance with the IT Change Management Process [to consider in context of paragraph 9];

      z. Database user account management, including:

      3. Database Software maintenance, including:

      a. Implement database patches in non-production and production environment; execute test plan, and rollback if necessary in accordance with the [IT Change Management Process]; and

      b. Co-ordinate with OEM or third-party vendor to resolve database issues in accordance with the Third Party Management Process;
