      The Compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

      Job Overview:

      The Orderly is responsible for assisting the Perioperative team in maintaining maximum work. This individual is responsible to ensure the proper picking of supplies and instruments, delivery and return of case carts utilized in Perioperative Services. Additionally, this position ensures the proper delivery of specialized equipment utilized by Perioperative Services, along with upholding policies/procedures in order to maintain a high level of service.

      Required:

      • Knowledge of inventory control
      • Successful completion of all Orientation requirements of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center

      Certifications and Licenses Required:

      • BLS Certification required or completion within 90 days of hire to the unit

      Scheduling Requirements:

      • Per Diem is based on operational need. Flexibility in avialblity is required
      • Weekend and holiday coverage may be required
      • Shift: Day

      Essential Functions:

      • Assists nursing staff in obtaining stock supplies, and equipment for each designated area/rooms
      • Maintains/adjusts par levels of supplies, linen, blankets, and solutions as demands increases or decreases
      • Assists the nursing staff in transportation of patients from bed to stretcher and from stretcher to bed
      • Assists in lifting and positioning of patients
      • Prepares/assists patient for discharge
      • Assures documentation of surgical specimens in Log Book and transports specimens to the Pathology/Cytopathology Department timely
      • Communicates/ reports pertinent information, patient complaints, problem and any untoward signs, symptoms or unusual occurrences immediately to appropriate patient care provider
      • Complies with Infection Control Guidelines (i.e hand washing, dress code)
      • Demonstrates the ability to transport patients to and from all nursing units within the hospital environment
      • Follows hospital policy and procedures in identification of patient, universal protocol
      • Maintains a safe and uncluttered environment, which conforms to established OSHA rules and regulationsManages time efficiently, reports to designated area on time and responds to page timely, within 2 minutes
      • Performs all other duties assigned
      • Retrieves stretchers from nursing units in the Medical Center, returns them where needed and reports repairs needed
      • Transports blood and blood products to and from the blood bank as necessary
      • Transports equipment to and from the Bio-medical engineering department
      • Transports soiled case carts to the decontamination room in CSR in a timely manner and maintain frequent rounds every hour to check dirty case carts for transport
      • Transports medications to and from the pharmacy
