      JOB SUMMARY:

      A skilled member of the health care team, the OPA-C serves the PRHC Clinics throughcollaboration with the physician regarding the provision of direct medical care. Responsibilities include assessments, monitor andpromote health and protection from disease, and manage orthopedic care for patients seen by the supervising physician, including the development of treatment and health counseling.OPA-C may assist in setting orthopedic instrumentation and equipment, assist with patient preparation to include draping and positioning, assist with the reduction of fracture and dislocation, evaluation of patient status through daily rounds that are in addition to the rounding required of supervising physician, evaluation of laboratory and radiological studies, assist with removal of superficial orthopedic hardware, splinting, institute and execute routine post-operative orders of the supervising physician, as well as courtesy calls.

      The Advanced Practice Provider is active in the development and maintenance of clinic operations in coordination with the CAC, Clinic Services Director and/or Chief of Clinic Services; participates in performance improvement activities and Lean Healthcare initiatives.

      General Requirements

      • Must hold current certification by the NCCOPA
      • Demonstrates the ability to organize his/her time effectively and to manage a typical work assignment. Is able to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work assignments, and completes assigned duties within scheduled hours. Completes other duties as assigned. Not wasting time with idle conversation.
      • Floats to other areas of the department/facility as needed and are willing to pick up additional shifts or duties due to staff shortages.
      • Reports to work on time and as scheduled. Utilizes time efficiently by not abusing breaks or meal periods. Employees are required to accurately record their time using the timekeeping system. Attends personnel meetings and inservices as required for the position.
      • Maintains professional licensure and certifications as required by position and regulatory compliance. Maintains annual educational requirements and seeks out additional training if it pertains to his/her job or career goals.
