Your Impact at SAM The Outside Plant Engineer I is responsible for providing/coordinating the design, engineering, and permitting of outside plant design for telecommunications infrastructure projects. You will ensure the compliance and timely delivery, of all OSPE projects, in such a manner as to provide the highest quality of services to SAM customers. Interpret underground, direct buried, and aerial telecom facilities records on maps and fielding notes Execute the permitting, and documentation of communications infrastructure Assist in troubleshooting plant mapping and design Perform other tasks as assigned What You Bring to SAM 2+ years of progressively responsible experience in the telecommunication industry Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or 2+ years of experience in major job elements Experience using telecommunications design software e.g. Bentley Microstation , 3-GIS, ArcFM, Aramis-DT, Magellan, WALDO, AutoCAD Familiarity with design techniques, tools and principals involved in production of outside plant design and construction work prints Strong organization, solutions, task delegation and project management skills Experience with OSP telecommunication industry engineering processes and practices, and their impact on project activities Minimum 2+ years of field experience or experience supervising field crews Ability to work effectively with employees, department management, contractors and consultants in a professional Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing Ability to analyze data and prepare written reports Ability to read and interpret electronic and pdf roadway plans Ability to read power company relocation plans Ability to access, request and read utility records Ability to access city or county resources to determine right-of ways Our Perks Company paid premiums for medical, dental, vision, LTD and life insurance (HSA and FSA plans available) Generous paid time off (vacation, sick, holidays and parental leave) – Accrual starts immediately 401(k) program offers 100% employer match up to 5% Paid continuing education courses and tuition reimbursement Employee Assistance Program – Your mental health is our priority No glass ceiling!
