The Duxbury Public Schools is seeking highly qualified candidates to apply for the position of Out-of-District Coordinator (.5 FTE) Qualifications: Licensed, or eligible for administrative licensure, by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education; Special Education Administrator required Bachelor's Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) At least 5 years of experience in special education Experience in a public school environment; Demonstrates knowledge of current special education laws, inclusionary practices, and managerial skills. Extensive knowledge of the IEP process Responsibilities: Ability to effectively partner with families and collaborate with numerous stakeholders. Facilitate Individual Education Programs (IEP) meetings and serves as the chairperson for out-of-district students including re-evaluations, and adherence with Federal and State requirements Facilitate communications and working relationships with parents, outside agencies and community resources. Ensures the implementation of Special Education regulations and mandates and is responsible for seeing that all timelines are met and all required paperwork is completed. Understands they are an integral member of the educational team that effectively communicates to parents, students, and community members a systemic approach that models teamwork, encourages collegiality and supports collaboration. Supports parents/guardians with the process of referral and identifying the most appropriate placement for the student and supports the parent and facilitates communication with the schools if concerns arise. Multiple program tours are often necessary at this stage Review and monitor students’ Individualized Education Programs in accordance with state and federal due process requirements. Works with in-district staff to support the transition of students in and out of the district. Responsible for supporting administrative special education paperwork demands. Collaborates with the Director of Business and Finance and the Special Education Director to monitor the financial obligations of OOD (tuitions, equipment, transportation monitors, instructional assistant support, nursing/medical supports, and assistive technology). Responsible for supporting the process for the district to access reimbursement as a part of the Special Education Circuit Breaker program. Ability to travel between multiple in and out-of-district school locations (must possess valid driver’s license) Performs other related duties as assigned.About the company
