What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Analyze clinical documentation and assign appropriate diagnosis, procedure, and codes
- Utilize ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 Coding Classification systems
- Resolve medical necessity edits and extract data for reimbursement purposes
- Provide feedback to providers on documentation quality
- Validate computer-assisted coding generated codes and follow-up on unabstracted accounts
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, disease process, and coding systems
- Certificate program in coding or associate degree in HIM with 1-3 years of healthcare experience
- Certification as a RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, COC
- High standard of prioritization skills and customer service focus
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in HIM
- CCS, RHIA, RHIT credential
- AHIMA credential preferred
- Experience as an Rx Technician or Customer Service Representative in a healthcare-related service
