Job Description

- Take and hand over shift for the CRP plant.
- Control and audit the outside operating parameters functionality of the CRP plant.
- Complete the Pre-start-up inspection of the CRP plant.
- Carry out isolations on CRP equipment as and when required.
- Perform isolations on machines/equipment as and when required.
- Shut down the machine/equipment as per the required shutdown procedure.
- Report operating problems and abnormal plant conditions i.e. power failures, breakdowns, and operating problems, and corrective action taken to the Process Controller.
- Report and record potential and actual production delays to the Process Controller.
- Regularly inspect all equipment in the plant for potential problems each shift, assisted by the shift checklist, and ensure corrective action is taken where necessary.
- Take samples as and when required.
- Evaluate the sample logbook of the previous shift and react accordingly.
- Check quality sheets and exception reports.
- Understand the forecast of the shift.
- Evaluate external plant influences and communicate to Shift Superintendent.
- Ensure response to, execution of, and communication to all levels where necessary (briefs, emails, memos, etc.).
- Optimise plant status within current constraints (raw materials, and services). Ensuring high optimum removal of chloride.
- Perform rate changes as requested.
- Ensure corrective action on all non-conformances.
- Execute production activities i.e. shut, start-ups and stops, exception reports, log sheets, graphs, trends, boil outs, etc.
- Perform pump changeover as per schedule.
- Optimize raw material consumption.
- Ensure that all equipment defects are attended to immediately.
- Maintain, update, and prioritize the shut list of the outside plant equipment.
- Keep records of relevant operating information and mechanical and or electrical defects on the appropriate log sheets.
- Communicate equipment defects with the relevant person.
- SAP PM notifications.
- Work Permit book.
- OEE Entries.
- Daily Logbook.
- Create a safe work environment by identifying and managing risks.
- Report accidents, injuries, and fires immediately to the Process Controller / Shift Superintendent.
- Accountable to ensure adherence to all safety BP’s, procedures, and BBS practices.
- Ensure adherence to specific Legal regulatory requirements.
- Do plant walkabouts and inspections and take corrective action where required.
- Complete PJO’s as per notifications.
- Achieve 5S status in the area of responsibility.
- Ensure good housekeeping.
- Coach and Train new employees in the area of responsibility.
- Self-Development (PDP).
- Accurately capture data, enabling accurate plant efficiency calculations.
- Record all relevant plant deviations and notifications.
- Matric with Maths and Physical Science or N3 Pulp and Paper
- S4 in Chem Engineering or Pulp and Paper will be advantageous
- Relevant plant licence will be advantageous.
- 6 months experience in Production environment.
