Job Description

- Work closely with the program launch teams to identify and launch packaging for new programs.
- Acquire and maintain customer requirements for packaging.
- Identify appropriate testing and oversee the testing of packaging materials.
- Design appropriate test procedures to meet customer requirements for packaging.
- Work closely with Operations Teams to identify and launch packaging for internal use.
- Collaborate with Customer Quality teams in resolving quality issues related to packaging.
- Lead the corporate Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) effort to improve quality and reduce cost.
- Develop and maintain specifications, checklists and work instructions which describe the engineered packaging methodology.
- Collaborate with material planning in the supply of purchased packaging to meet manufacturing demand.
- Lead quote activity and supplier selection and development.
- Balance freight costs and packaging costs when designing the appropriate packaging system.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Project Management – Applying of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to manage and meet packaging project requirements.
- Communicate Effectively – Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey clear understanding, taking into account the unique needs of different audiences.
- Attention to Detail – Ensuring information is complete and accurate; following up with others to ensure that agreements and commitments have been fulfilled.

- Maintaining a high level of honesty, integrity and confidentiality with respect to company matters.
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering or other related field.
- 5+ years of packaging engineering experience.
- Experience in expendable and returnable packaging.
- Experience in Project or Program Management.
- Experience in the Automotive Industry.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The purpose of the Packaging Engineer II is to lead the design and development of packaging needs related to the Gentex finished goods and subassemblies. This role is also responsible for planning, monitoring, and coordinating the execution of packaging related projects.
Location : This position requires on-site work at Gentex facilities. This role is not eligible for remote work.
