      Job Title: Packaging Engineer

      Job Description

      A Packaging Engineer for Vehicle Programs is tasked with developing, validating, and implementing specialized containers that ship components and sub-assemblies into assembly plants. This role requires collaboration with multiple stakeholders, understanding supply chain and manufacturing constraints to develop robust packaging solutions aimed at protecting part quality while optimizing container density and logistics equipment to minimize enterprise costs.

      Responsibilities

      • Develop packaging solutions that support multiple stakeholders in the supply base, logistics, and manufacturing.
      • Execute project management on multiple container designs and commodities to support future program milestones and deliveries.
      • Develop validation protocols including loading, transportation, and unloading to ensure robust designs.
      • Ensure high first-time quality in packaging solutions with zero rework.
      • Prioritize workload based on supporting multiple programs/studies simultaneously and work independently to meet goals and KPIs.
      • Serve as the technical expert for packaging at a commodity level to support future strategies from a container and logistics perspective.
      • Lead discussions and identify critical constraints the container must support while controlling costs within multifunctional groups.
      • Utilize communication and computer skills effectively across organizations.

      Essential Skills

      • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
      • Over 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment.
      • Education or experience related to packaging designs utilizing 3D modeling and design software and multiple manufacturing processes and materials.
      • Working knowledge of material handling and manufacturing processes.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
      • High level of analytical ability for unusual and difficult problems.
      • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
      • Hands-on problem-solving ability.
      • Self-motivated with strong initiative.
      • Project management and organizational skills.
      • Demonstrated ability to work independently with little or no supervision.

      Additional Skills & Qualifications

      • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Strategies and Quality Systems.
      • Good business acumen, organizational and strategic agility.
      • Experience in developing cost/benefit data analysis (Business Cases).
      • Red X/problem-solving proficiency.
      • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Packaging, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.
      • Knowledge of vibration data acquisition and testing, Unigraphics NX, TcAE, Autoweb knowledge, and application.
      • ISTA or ASTM validation and testing protocols.

      Work Environment

      This position offers a hybrid work environment with three days in the office and two days remote.

      Pay and Benefits

      The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $46.00/hr.
