      Job Description

      How will you make an impact:

      Ensures the Packaging Maintenance team is equipped with essential spare parts and smooth operation of the team and reducing downtime of the machinery. This role is essential in ensuring the efficient operation of our equipment through the integration of automation upgrades, 3D modeling of spare parts, and meticulous maintenance practices.

      What will you do?

      • Implement additional automation upgrades to existing equipment, enhancing efficiency and performance. Assist with the change control process to ensure timely completion
      • Design and create 3D models of spare parts for 3D printing, ensuring accuracy and compatibility with existing systems.
      • Assist with necessary repairs and upgrades to maintain equipment in optimal condition. Ensure timely completion and compliance with set procedures
      • Liaise with manufacturers for technical support when equipment issues arise, ensuring quick resolution.
      • Provide breakdown support to mechanics with PC, electronics, and vision system issues.
      • Collaborate with the manufacturer to compile a list of recommended parts to reduce equipment downtime.
      • Coordinate and assist with the service and maintenance schedules of equipment. Organize and schedule offsite repairs and polishing
      • Set up and assign user permissions in equipment systems and report the user list to production leadership. Update user groups as required
      • Ensure all packaging equipment is properly calibrated for optimal performance.
      • Plan, coordinate, schedule, and assist with onsite and offsite calibrations
      • Learn equipment operation from vendor engineers, document key processes, and train SOP creators.
      • Maintain and organize spare parts' inventory to ensure readiness for any equipment needs.
      • Perform routine inventory audits of critical parts
      • Communicate between shifts with other mechanics and supervisor(s) any key issues or potential issues.
      • Ensure product quality meets the standards of Thermo Fisher, our clients, and applicable regulatory agencies including, but not limited to the Health Products and Food Branch Inspectorate (HPFBI), United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA), and European Medicines Agency (EMEA) (continuous)
      • Maintain a safe working environment and report potential hazards.
      • Perform alternating or rotating shift work.

      How will you get here?

      Education:

      High school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) Certificate is required

      Experience:

      Minimum 1 year of previous related experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.


      Equivalency:

      Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      Detail oriented and persistent with follow-ups to ensure completion. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with production leadership and vendors. Able to work independently by taking on specific projects. Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and 3D modeling software. Proficiency with the English Language.

Carry out all duties within strict compliance to Patheon quality systems Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Maintain workspace in a clean and orderly fashion. Actively engage in and adhere to departmental systems to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow (visual management, scheduling systems, etc.). Be client and patient conscious at all times. Understand Key Performance Indicators and strive to improve the performance of the team by identifying areas for system improvements and engage in problem solving. Models positive thinking and is open to change, motivating the team to adapt to shifts in priorities and new ways of working. Proactively identify areas for improvement in the execution of procedures. Communicate risks to timelines in a proactive manner.       Physical Requirements:

      Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about manufacturing/office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of up to 40 pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity; visual acuity to operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time. Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, loud noise, bright lights, fumes or odour. Use of Personal Protective equipment is required and may include any of the following: safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator.
