      To do this effectively, we therefore need to transform the way we work, looking holistically at our end-to-end development processes, from design to market implementation. This will require us to move from more physical development and testing to a virtual development process, using the latest virtual design tools, data analytics, digital models, and prototyping capabilities.


      Responsibilities

      The Principal Engineer for Packaging Digital Transformation in Foods R&D will be responsible to function as the Packaging Modeling & Simulation lead as R&D progresses the E2E digitalization of the Foods Packaging function. This position will report into the Packaging Digital Transformation Director (or Digital Product Owner for Dassault 3DX). This individual will be required to understand data created and consumed during multiple packaging development processes, develop physics based simulations, lead integrations of third party simulation solutions and provide business input & context to the Digital Product Director and the Packaging Leadership Team.

      • Digitizing key aspects of the Foods Packaging development processes in the Dassault 3DX platform
      • Leverage advanced physic-based simulations for virtual package development to unlock faster and stronger innovation and breakthrough productivity.
      • Identify and introduce the state-of-art technology to transform the way of working in PepsiCo R&D and enhance efficiency.
      • Act as a subject matter expert concerning packaging CAD, Modeling and Simulation, material characterization, virtual and physical prototyping, by addressing targeted questions from our key stakeholders and/or business partners.
      • Plan, execute and document results of design evaluation, virtual and physical analysis for new packaging technologies to ensure products can be successfully effectuated within the Global PepsiCo system.
      • Understand and leverage existing business processes to identify opportunities for developing new value add modeling and simulation capabilities.
      • Support the cultural & organizational transformation, leading the cultural shift that will be needed to bring this to life within the packaging function.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Implement Physics-based simulations for virtual packaging development
      • DEM model development to test combination of new foods packaging designs
      • DEM model development of product fill, case fill, and pallet load simulations
      • New technology scouting, development, introduction and implementation
      • Support mapping of Packaging Development Processes
      • Support implementation within the Dassault 3DX digital platform in collaboration with the Product Owner of Digital Transformation
      • Support delivery of benefits of speed and cost reduction are realized year-on-year as well as Dassault 3DX adoption

      Compensation and Benefits:

      •The expected compensation range for this position is between $102,800 - $172,100 based on a full-time schedule.
      • Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary.
      • Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 12% of annual salary paid out annually.
      • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

      Qualifications

      • BS, Mechanical, Material Science & Materials Engineering, Physics, or related field preferred, Master’s degree is a plus
      • 7+ years of experience in digital applications and processes, with an emphasis on design, development and deployment
      • Demonstrated expertise on modeling, analysis, and simulation, to verify performance and manufacturability, and drive form/fit/function optimization.
      • Robust understanding of engineering principles with experience in structural dynamics.
      • Experience with state-of-the-art modeling software that is capable of modeling multi-physics problems.
      • Knowledge of how to use simulation to evaluate new and novel technologies for PepsiCo’s innovation in processing/packaging.
      • Solid experience with CAD software, SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo/ ProE , Fusion360, advanced engineering, and simulation preferred.
