Marketing and Communications | Brand MarketingResponsible for developing, executing and optimizing paid advertising initiatives for the Office of Marketing and Communications and for university partners through Scarlet Studio, the university’s internal marketing and communications agency, the Paid Media Manager will be a key player in shaping and executing the university’s paid marketing strategies. This newly established role aims to advance and protect the university’s brand reputation, support institutional priorities and achieve overall marketing objectives. The Paid Media Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and implement comprehensive paid strategies for both online and offline channels, including, but not limited to paid search (PPC), display, social media, print publications, over the top (OTT), experiential, broadcast, podcast, mobile, out of home and Connected TV (CTV). Staying informed about industry trends, peer strategies, and emerging paid marketing opportunities is crucial to the success and growth of the paid media function at Ohio State. The Paid Media Manager will manage campaigns, working closely with approved suppliers on behalf of the Office of Marketing and Communications and partners.
This dedicated paid media resource is also responsible for establishing the paid media practice at Ohio State in order to share best practices, tools and opportunities with university partners. As the practice grows, documentation and governance will be critical pieces to solidifying the paid media practice at Ohio State.
The Paid Media Manager is responsible for management of paid media budgets, in-flight optimization recommendations/adjustments and overall performance analysis and insights. They will maximize investments on behalf of the Office of Marketing and Communications and partners, ensuring that campaign approaches meet objectives and are conducted in a timely manner. They will collaborate with Scarlet Studio and other internal partners, manage supplier relationships and facilitate coordination between units, as appropriate.
Under the leadership of the Senior Director, Channel Engagement, the Paid Media Manager will develop and encourage adoption of cross-channel journeys that focus on the integration of paid media with the entire channel mix and overall optimization of audience experience and outcomes.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Minimum four (4) years of professional paid media marketing experience; Proficiency in developing, implementing, and managing paid media strategies; Experience collaborating with both internal and external partners; Ability to interpret analytics, develop data-driven insights and continually optimize; Familiarity with tools such as Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager and marketing automation platforms.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with audience-centric, integrated marketing planning; Proficiency in allocating and managing budgets effectively across different paid media channels.

The Target Hiring Range for this position is $74,900 to $98,500 per year.
