      JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

      The Okafor lab in the department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Pennsylvania State University seeks to hire a motivated undergraduate researcher to join our team this summer (part-time) to help develop a course-based undergraduate research experience (CURE) focused on computational biophysics. The candidate will be part of a project that helps shape how research is taught to undergraduates, while deepening your own understanding of computational biology and gaining experience in curriculum development.

      Job Duties

      • Test and refine hands-on exercises related to protein modeling and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations
      • Help prepare materials and resources that will be used by future students in the course
      • Provide feedback and contribute ideas to improve the research-based curriculum

      Desired qualities in ideal candidate

      • An undergraduate with at least one year of research experience in computational biophysics
      • Practical experience with protein structure modeling and MD simulations is required
      • Reliable, detail-oriented, and excited about making science more accessible to other students
