      Gaming Enforcement Division

      The Office of the Attorney General is looking for a highly motivated individual to support the work of the Gaming Enforcement Division within the Criminal Bureau. The Gaming Enforcement Division is a statewide team of prosecutors, investigators, and administrative and other staff, partnered with the Massachusetts State Police, and charged with investigating and prosecuting gaming-related crimes, pursuant to M.G.L. c. 12, § 11M.

      Primary Duties: The Paralegal will provide day-to-day paralegal and administrative support to employees of the Gaming Enforcement Division (GED), as well as the Criminal Bureau. These duties will include the following responsibilities:

      · Research policy and legal matters pertinent to GED initiatives;

      · Draft administrative, grand jury, and trial subpoenas, as well as witness summons, discovery, and preservation orders, at the direction of prosecutors;

      · Track referrals, investigations, and prosecutions for GED;

      · Support grand jury work by preparing documents and analyzing returns to help develop investigations;

      · Support litigation matters by creating discovery, as well as scheduling business and law enforcement witnesses.

      · Analyze digital evidence in furtherance of investigations and prosecutions;

      · Assist in the coordination of trainings and assembly of training materials;

      · Organize and deposit seized monies, as well as track seizure and forfeiture processes;

      · Any additional duties necessary to effectuate the above responsibilities;

      · Administrative duties consistent with the needs of the Division;

      · Maintain Office databases, such as the Criminal Bureau’s Usuary Database.

      The Paralegal will work closely with the prosecutors, victim witness advocates, and investigators assigned to the Gaming Enforcement Division, as well as with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners.

      All employees assigned to the Gaming Enforcement Division are subject to the Enhanced Code of Ethics adopted pursuant to M.G.L. c. 12, § 11M(c).

      Position Type: Full-Time/Non-Exempt. Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions.

      Salary: $50,245

      Position Requirements: A bachelor’s or associate degree or an equivalent combination of related education and/or experience is required. Must be self-motivated, disciplined, and possess the ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making. Attention to detail, effective verbal and written communication skills, and a high level of professionalism are necessary. A high level of proficiency with technology and computers is preferred. The Paralegal assigned to the Gaming Enforcement Division must demonstrate an interest in, and understanding of, the sensitive nature of working on investigations involving organized and public corruption crimes. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a connection to the people and communities we serve and an interest in supporting a respectful, diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment. Weekly travel to the Boston Office and Malden District Court is required.
