      The Privacy & Cyber Paralegal is assigned to specific matters, clients, projects and/or attorneys and will utilize the knowledge within the specialized area to perform a variety of duties. The Privacy & Cyber Paralegal provides comprehensive support to assigned attorneys in managing privacy and cybersecurity litigation matters, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. There is an annual billing requirement of 1500 hours.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Assist in managing privacy and cybersecurity cases, including tracking deadlines and open action items, organizing case files, and maintaining case management databases.

      • Create initial drafts of pleadings and discovery documents, e.g., motion for extension, corporate disclosure statements, initial disclosures, discovery requests, discovery objections, stipulated protective orders, and settlement agreements.

      • Manage the full lifecycle of settled cases from initiation through to completion (e.g., following up with plaintiff’s counsel to verify wiring instructions, soliciting W9s, and ensuring stipulations of dismissal are filed).

      • Prepare routine emails to clients with updates, such as extensions of time for responsive pleadings, upcoming deadlines, or updates on the status of settlement and respond to inquiries.

      • Conduct thorough legal research on privacy and cybersecurity laws, regulations, and industry standards. Analyze and summarize findings for attorney review.

      • Draft, review, and prepare various legal documents.

      • Provide general administrative support, including scheduling meetings, maintaining client calendars, and preparing expense reports.

      • Establish priorities and work concurrently on a variety of projects.

      • Provide quality client service to both internal and external clients in a professional manner.

      • Track and record client-billable times and non-billable hours, meeting minimum billable hour requirements.

      • Maintain and prioritize workflow and communicate if unable to meet daily responsibilities.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      • Strong understanding of federal civil procedure and discovery.

      • Strong understanding of privacy laws (e.g., FCRA, GDPR, CCPA) and cybersecurity regulations. Familiarity with data protection principles and practices.

      • Strong attention to detail, problem solving and organizational skills.

      • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and client interfacing abilities.

      • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

      • Exhibits good teamwork skills within and across practice groups, offices, and the firm to facilitate efficient legal service delivery.

      • Ability to utilize sound judgment and discretion effectively.

      • Demonstrate willingness to learn and develop new skills.

      • Adapt to changing assignments and priorities with readiness.

      • Demonstrate initiative in completing routine assignments with minimal supervision.

      • Availability to work overtime when necessary or requested.

      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).

      Education and/or Experience:

      • Bachelor’s degree; or any combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

      • Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved program beneficial.

      • Minimum five (5) years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on either federal court litigation or privacy and cybersecurity highly preferred.

      • Significant experience with federal court litigation at all stages of a case.
