At least 2 years’ experience as a paralegal
Strong work ethic and talent for detailed work
Strong problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, superb accuracy and organizational ability
Proven ability to manage high volume of priority work under competing deadlines, take initiative, work collaboratively as part of a team and be discreet with confidential information
Strong and accurate keyboarding (60+ WPM), writing, editing and word processing
Ability to maintain positive long-term professional relationships with all parties
Ability to work effectively in a close team environment
Demonstrated skill at triaging and prioritizing tasks and projects
Delegates effectively and holds self and others accountable to meet deadlines and deliver exceptional quality of work
Legal degree, law clerk or paralegal certificate or diploma from an accredited institution (or equivalent corporate records experience)
As BCI is a global investor, familiarity with other legal jurisdictions from a corporate perspective is considered an asset, as is speaking a foreign language
Support the Senior Paralegal, Capital Markets Legal lawyers and the Public Markets department with executing transactions and corporate strategies
Assist in providing support for transactional, investment, and operational activities within the Public Markets department
Provide documentation support to Capital Markets Legal lawyers and Public Markets investment team members, such as for regulatory filings and investment closings, as well as addressing
Draft, coordinate and complete subscription agreements for fund investments
Coordinate investor Know Your Client and Anti Money Laundering questionnaires for new and existing investments
Assist the Senior Paralegal, lawyers and deal teams with drafting and reviewing various legal documents and with document management and retrieval
Collaborate with the Senior Paralegal and other members of the Capital Markets Legal team to execute on the legal coverage plan for Public Markets
Collaborate with Legal Affairs team to innovate and memorialize evolving best practices and efficiencies
Respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities with ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple detailed tasks
Perform administrative functions as required

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Sr. Paralegal (Capital Markets), the Paralegal will be responsible for supporting the Capital Markets Legal team. This is a unique opportunity for a talented individual to contribute to the growth and success of our organization and work on large global investment transactions in an in-house environment. The Paralegal works closely with the Senior Paralegal and Capital Markets Legal lawyers to ensure that all tasks are completed accurately and on time.

While we have a strong preference for someone to work from our downtown Victoria office, we will review candidates from the Vancouver area as well.
SALARY RANGE
BCI offers a competitive total rewards package which includes a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan and paid time off.
The annualized base salary range for this Victoria/Vancouver-based role is CAD $74,000 to $85,000.
The base salary offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration to internal equity.
We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we compete for talent and with consideration to internal equity and job structure. We aim for actual pay to be around the median of the market for target or expected levels of performance, and around the upper quartile of the market for excellent performance.
Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience and expertise.
