- Minimum high school diploma/GED or higher.
- Has met all requirements for designation of "Highly Qualified" status or willing to meet the requirements:
- complete 2 years of study at an institution of higher learning OR
- obtain an associate's degree OR
- meet a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal state of local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics
- CPR, AED, and First Aide certification preferred.
- May serve as a paraprofessional with direct supervision of students.
- May serve as a classroom teacher when there is no substitute teacher.
- May serve as a Special Ed paraprofessional.
- Demonstrate professionalism through prompt and regular attendance as well as appropriate attire.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of a certified classroom teacher and/or school administrator, ESS paraprofessionals supplement student education and assist with instruction, behavior management, and/or administrative duties. They support the physical, behavioral, and academic needs of a group of students or on a one-to-one basis.
