      Grade 8 of the ESP Salary Scale
      7 Hours/Day, 10-Month Work Year

      Minimum Requirements
      High school diploma/GED.
      Must meet Highly Qualified status (A.A. Degree, 48 credit hours, or have successfully passed the Paraprofessional Praxis Test).
      Experience working with at-risk youth.
      Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
      Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

      Training and experience working with populations relevant to the assigned school.

      Role Responsibilities
      Implement school-based dropout prevention efforts.
      Develop and implement strategies and plans that will assist students to reduce absenteeism, improve grades and reduce discipline referrals.
      Develop effective communication and working relationships with students and families through correspondence, school meetings, phone conferences and home visits.
      Develop effective communication and working relationship with school-based personnel (guidance counselors, teachers, administrators, etc.), as well as district student services personnel (supervisors, PPWs, specialists, etc.).
      Develop effective communication and working relationship with community service providers, youth agencies and local committees in order to facilitate procurement of supplemental resources for students and families.
      Serve as an active member of the school student support team.
      Participate in transitional processes, including intakes and transfers.
      Provide case management and intervention for identified students at-risk of not succeeding in school and not graduating on time.
      Assist students in obtaining individual academic support, as needed.
      Assist in the coordination and supervision of special activities.
      Participate in school and department professional development activities
      Participate in effective behavioral and conflict management/resolution efforts.
      Maintain all student and personnel documentation as required and complete reports in a timely fashion.
      Maintain confidentiality of student, family, and school information.
      Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.
      Other duties as requested.

      Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
      Ability to move, raise, lower, and carry objects up to 20 lbs. on an irregular basis.
      Must be able to bend, crouch, stoop, reach, and climb.
      Will be subjected to loud noises, interactions, and traffic flow associated within a highly populated office environment.
