      Job Description

      This parasitology scientist/associate scientist is responsible for parasitology in vitro screening pipelines, managing ordering compounds, conducting whole organism assays, data recording and publication. In support of the parasite screening pipeline, this scientist will maintain the required parasite species, including relevant endoparasite and ectoparasite species. The scientist will also support the parasitology screening pipeline in vivo models, which includes, but not limited to, large and small animals.

      Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

      • Work with all species within the parasitology group to include large and small animals and various internal (worms) and external (fleas, ticks and mosquitoes) animal parasites.

      • Assay development, optimization, and/or validation.

      • Assist with in vivo parasite model work.

      • Demonstrate proficiency with laboratory techniques and data management including computer skills.

      • Communicate with and assist technicians and other mid-senior level scientists.

      • Utilize sterile cell culture techniques, whole organism work, whole blood work and/or cell culture work.

      • Follow and comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) associated with laboratory procedures and study protocols.

      • Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Other computer skills required: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.

      • Work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, fast-paced, timeline driven and a positive attitude and organizational skills.

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or other related degree concentration, or equivalent directly-related experience (two years of directly related industry experience is equivalent to one full-time year of college in related major).

      • At least one-year laboratory and/or animal handling experience.

      • Desirable: Parasitology experience and/or animal handling experience
