      The Paratransit Coordinator supports older adults and people with disabilities through the City of Alameda's thriving, well-loved paratransit program! Working out of the Mastick Senior Center, this position will administer, conduct outreach, and support the City's paratransit program.

      This is a part time job expected to be scheduled for 28 hours each week with limited benefits including 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and enrollment in PARS, Public Alternative Retirement Service.

      The Paratransit Coordinator administers, conducts outreach, and supports the City of Alameda (City) Paratransit Program, which includes the following initiatives:

      • Free AC Transit Bus Passes . Serves low - income older adults and people with disabilities who reside in Alameda . Over 9 00 people are currently enrolled and taking a total average of 1 6 ,000 rides per month.

      • Alameda Independent Mobility ( AIM ) Program . This concierge service p rovides subsidized rides on Uber/Lyft to low-incom e residents who are enrolled in East Bay Paratransit . The program serves 125 participants taking a total average of 83 rides per month. Eden I&R holds the City contract to provide this service at this time .

      • Travel training . Group workshops to help older adults and people with disabilities access transportation options, including Transportation 101, Transit App Training, and Hop on the Bus with Us programs.

      • Mobility a ssistance . Assistance for individual Alameda older adult s and people with disabilities to access transportation options , such as the City of Alameda’s AIM and Free Bus Pass programs, East Bay Paratransit, and Senior Clipper Cards .


      The Paratransit Coordinator job consists of:

      • Approximately 60% direct service administration . P rovid e one-on-one mobility assistanc e to help people determine which transportation options they need, help them sign up for programs , and hold group travel training workshops and events. Conduct administrative tasks to fulfill enrollments in AIM and Free Bus Pass programs .

      • A pproximately 40% program management . Ma intain vendor relationships for the AIM and Free AC Transit bus pass programs , including option to approve invoices. C onduct annual program evaluation through ridership analysis and a public survey . M onitor program budget and help develop annual budget . P articipate in Alameda County Transportation Commission Paratransit Advisory and Planning Committee (PAPCO) and the Paratransit Technical Advisory Committee . Supervise 6-8 hours/week of an adm inistrative support position.


      Desired Experience & Qualities

      • Experience with direct services , especially to vulnerable communities . Experience serving older adults and people with disabilities a plus.

      • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, transportation options for older adult s and people with disabilities , including paratransit programs and transit trip planning.

      • Ability to maintain patience, kindness, and a service mentality.

      • Ability to work independently.

      • Ability to present clear information in a group setting.

      • Experience managing a program.

      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, Google Translate tools.

      • Multilingual a plus, particularly Cantonese.
