      Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Community Engagement, the Parent Ambassador, is responsible for the organization of consumer and community trainings, attends outreaches and events as the Inland Regional Center (IRC) representative for Riverside and San Bernardino County. Responsible for inquiries and assignments related to family and consumer services focusing on disparity and diversity in the Spanish language. Has no supervisory responsibility.

      SIGN-ON BONUS!

      • $250 sign-on bonus after the completion of 90 days of employment at IRC with work performance in good standing.
      • $500 sign-on bonus after the completion of 6 months of employment at IRC with work performance in good standing.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Designs and implements community projects focused on outreach to underserved demographic populations, with a focus in the Spanish Community throughout Riverside and San Bernardino County. Document IRC’s progress in achieving the purpose of each activity through survey results, funding utilization, and number of impacted staff or consumers/families, etc.
      • Actively seek, schedule, and attend outreaches and educational events once per week in the IRC service area that directly relate to the Hispanic Community to assist IRC in clearly and concisely communicating mission and values to stakeholders, with a particular focus on diversity and disparity within the Hispanic Community.
      • Assist in creating and facilitating a Spanish support group to help families understand services provided by the regional center in Riverside and San Bernardino County.
      • Plays a significant role in the Purchase of Services Disparity Data process by facilitating community input meetings and presenting findings in both English and Spanish.
      • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with IRC stakeholders, consumers, vendors, and families.
      • Provide advocacy services to consumer and family during the Individual Program Plan (IPP) and Purchase of Services (POS) process.
      • Participate in interagency committees.
      • Assist IRC’s Intake units as scheduled by the Manager of Community Engagement.
      • Provide technical assistance to the Enhanced Service Coordination unit for clients who reside in Riverside and San Bernardino County as scheduled by the Manager of Community Engagement.
      • Act as a liaison to IRC and community-based meeting or agency i.e., Consumer Advisor Committee (CAC), Inland Empire Disability Coalition (IEDC), ASIE CLASE, Vendor Advisory Committee (VAC), etc.
      • Provide written reports of activities to the Manager of Community Engagement monthly.
      • Assure that consumers’ rights and dignity are maintained in the provision of services.
      • Utilize good verbal and written communication skills and bilingual skills in all aspects of the job as able and required.
      • Handle change well and be flexible and adaptable in dealing with interruptions, new priorities and new assignments.
      • Maintain good attendance and punctuality.
      • Keep manager informed of pending work, work in progress and problems encountered.
      • Utilize agency’s IT systems as assigned, maintaining security and following agency’s protocol and procedures, rules, and requirements.
      • Attend training sessions as required.
      • Comply with and ensure program compliance with agency’s Personnel Policies and Procedures.
      • Perform different or additional work as assigned.

      MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

      • Must be a parent of a current or former client of Inland Regional Center.
      • Must be fluent in English and Spanish.
      • Knowledge of Regional Center programs.
      • Understanding of group processes and multi-cultural issues in service provision.
      • Demonstrated ability for public speaking.
      • Full use of an automobile, possession of a valid driver's license and liability insurance for the minimum amount prescribed by law or ability to provide for independent transportation. Must have and maintain a safe driving record.
