Service Delivery: Provide home visits to children and their parents/primary caregivers on a consistent basis. Use approved research-based curriculum to assist children with meeting developmental milestones and encouraging school readiness. Work with parents/primary caregivers on parenting skills and encouraging their involvement in their child’s development.

Documentation: Ensure all documentation and reports are accurate and completed in a timely manner. Duties may include assessments, notes, and reports.

Community Relations: Assist in representing the agency and providing information on services provided and their benefit. Ensure collaboration and strong communication with community partners.

Our Parents as Teachers Program is an evidence-based approach to building strong families and communities. Parents and caregivers are matched with trained professionals who make regular, personal home visits during a child’s earliest years in life, from prenatal to age 3. As a Parent Educator you will utilize a research-based curriculum as you work with parents/caregivers to engage and involve them in their child’s development.
Key Responsibilities:*Exact pay rate is commensurate with position and education.
Qualifications
Requirements: Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, 2 years of supervised work experience with young children/parents, and a valid driver’s license. Degree in Early Childhood Education or Human Services field and previous experience with home visiting services or infants/toddlers preferred.
Skills: Must be organized, able to multi-task, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, basic computer skills, and detail oriented. Must be able to interact with, and relate to, diverse groups of people.
Miscellaneous: Must pass all pre-employment drug screens and background clearances. Must maintain the ability to transport clients per DCFS standards. Must be willing to travel and work flexible hours to meet the needs of the program. Required to work in clients’ homes and community settings.-
