      The Shrine of the Sacred Heart, Washington, DC is seeking a Bookkeeper.

      The Parish Bookkeeper will be responsible for internal controls over Parish Accounting and will report to the Pastor.

      Duties and responsibilities

      • Enter offertory and contribution deposits into proper accounts in the bookkeeping system
      • Prepare and process checks/payments for accounts payable
      • Process payroll including withholding requirements
      • Create appropriate reports as requested by Pastor and/or finance council
      • Submit annual financial report to parishioners and the Archdiocese
      • Reconcile collection deposits to money counter slips
      • Enter approved budgetary figures for each account
      • Reconcile monthly bank statements
      • Participate in weekly staff meetings and annual staff retreats

      Requirements:

      • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting
      • Knowledge of basic accrual accounting and internal controls
      • Computer aptitude to use Parish Soft Accounting and the HRIS system, CHRIS
      • Working knowledge of Excel and Word
      • Bilingual Spanish and English preferred
