      What You'll Do
      The Park Operations Coordinator provide lead work direction and oversight of recreation in parks and greenways throughout the Dakota County parks system. This exciting position helps visitors discover and enjoy nature and the outdoors in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive manner. Primary responsibilities include: delivering park and facility operational plans at the Lebanon Hills Visitor Center and Lebanon Hills Campground, customer and visitor services, workforce and volunteer supervision and coordination, program and events support, and partnership engagement in a growing natural resource-based park system. This position is responsible for park operations at Lebanon Hills Regional Park (Eagan/Apple Valley). This position reports to the Park Operations Supervisor. Flexible schedule may include weekend, evening, and holiday hours.

Experience must be relevant to operating high use park and recreation operations including campgrounds, visitor or community centers, recreational equipment rental operations, and/or managing special use permits.

      Preferred Qualifications:
      • CPR and First Aid Certified
      • Previous lead work or supervisory experience of seasonal hired staff.
      • Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Outdoor Education, Tourism, or Public/Business/Non-Profit Administration.These examples do not include all possible tasks in this work and do not limit the assignment of related tasks in any position of this classification.       1. Provide operational oversight of recreation for park, greenway, and facility operations including year-round and seasonal facilities to achieve annual revenue, service and work plan goals.
      2. Lead temporary/seasonal hired and volunteer staff. This includes hiring, training, scheduling, delegating work and addressing performance issues if needed.
      3. Connect with Park visitors and public to ensure positive experiences, address customer concerns, and address emergency situations as needed.
      4. Provide lead operational oversight over recreational rental equipment and facility operations and inventory. Provide instruction and education in the use of rental equipment and related outdoor recreation and facility operations as needed.
      5. Develop and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with internal and external partners to support the coordination of the park and greenway operations. Build partnerships with internal and external partners, including volunteers, organizations, agencies,
      6. Work closely with the Guest Services and Facilities Management team on operations and visitor use associated with facility reservations, permits, and activity passes. This may include communications, policies and procedures, as well as administrative and logistical tasks.
      7. Manage program budgets when purchasing equipment, materials and supplies.
      8. Oversee volunteer programs and projects, which includes training and ongoing volunteer coordination and communication.
      9. Coordinate contracts with vendors including recruitment, contract process, scheduling, and invoicing.
      10. Apply latest concepts, trends, and practices in environmental education, recreation, and cultural education fields to programs, operations, and events.
      11. Follow and implement appropriate policies and procedures in all park, greenway, and facility operations to ensure a safe and positive experience for staff and guests. Recommend changes and updates to procedures or policies as needed.
      12. Oversee daily on-site fee-based financial processing and cash management per department and county policies and procedures.
      13. Work on special projects, events and recreation-related initiatives that help to meet the Parks annual workplans and goals with direction and coordination with Park Operations Supervisor.

      Location & Schedule
      This position is primarily in-person Lebanon Hills Regional Park, that offers opportunity for telework on occasion. Work is typically performed Monday through Friday during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) with some weekend, evening, and holiday hours. Flexible schedule will include weekend, evening and holiday hours on occasion.

      Work Environment
      Work is typically performed in a County office building and outdoors. Driving is required. Equipment used may include, but is not limited to, computer, printer, telephone, copy/fax machines and other electronic devices. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Lifting requirements of up to 50 pounds, on an occasional basis.
