- Provides visitor assistance.
- Develops and presents interpretive programs.
- Assists in the operation and maintenance of the recreation area facilities and rounds.
- Performs safety and security inspections.
- Performs environmental stewardship related tasks such as planting trees.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a valid, state-issued motor vehicle driver's license.
- This position requires willingness to wear and maintain a prescribed uniform.
- Incumbent must be willing to work a temporary position. This appointment is intended to last 4 - 6 months.
- Incumbent may be assigned to other essential duties during any seasonal layup from primary assignment in accordance with provisions of ER 690-1-320 (10 Nov 83).
- Incumbent must be qualified to drive government vehicles in accordance with Corps of Engineers standards and may be required to operate motor vessels up to and including 26 feet in length.

This position is intended to be filled from approximately May to September at one of the St. Paul District recreation sites. A typical staff consists of a park manager, park rangers, maintenance workers and student trainees.Duties

Who May Apply: US Citizens
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document.
GS-04 Specialized and General Experience: Applicant must have a minimum of six months of specialized experience in technical, administrative, or scientific work, fish and wildlife management, recreation management, law enforcement, or other park-related work as qualifying with specific examples such as park guide or tour leader; law enforcement or investigative work; archeological or historical preservation research work; forestry and/or fire management work in a park, recreation, or conservation area; or management, assistant, or program specialist work involving the development and implementation of policy related to protection, conservation, or management of park areas or similar operations; AND have at least six months general experience in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work that provided a familiarity with natural or cultural history; fish or wildlife habitat characteristics; techniques of resource protection and use; recreational use of public lands and facilities; enforcement of laws, rules, or regulations; fire prevention techniques and fire suppression methods; or the practice of interpersonal relations skills in dealing with the general public.
OR
Education: Two years of education above the high school level with twelve semester hours of related course work in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education by 60. Add the two percentages.
