      The Piedmont’s Kings Mountain State Park has miles of forested trails perfect for supreme Kings Mountain hiking, two fishing lakes, and sits adjacent to Kings Mountain National Military Park, one of many national park Revolutionary War sites. Local crowds flock to the park during regularly scheduled special events, especially every November when living history demonstrations are held at the park’s replica 1800s Piedmont farm.

      Job Purpose and Duties:

      Under general supervision, assists with overall operation and maintenance of a State Park. Performs diversified duties as governed by general instruction, policies and standard operating procedures of the Department. Assumes the responsibilities of the Park Manager in the absence of higher-level employees.

      1) Assists with park administrative duties in accordance with Department guidelines and procedures and planning of long and short-term goals.
      2) Collect and account for revenue and produce required reports.
      3) Instruct, supervise and perform routine and preventative maintenance on grounds, buildings and equipment to meet established standards.
      4) Manages assigned specific operations to include public use areas, retail operations and facilities.
      5) Disseminate information to visitors whether in a park program or through general interactions with visitors.
      6) Practice and promote teamwork within the park and/or region, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.
      7) Employee will be required to live in designated park housing to provide for security, safety and emergency response.
      8) Instruct, supervise and perform monthly safety inspections on grounds, buildings and equipment to meet established standards. Maintains a safe work environment by providing a safe environment for park visitors and other park employees.

      Associate degree in Park Management or related field with one (1) year of park ranger experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

      Additional Requirements:

      1) Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking, and standing on uneven terrain, crawling, and walking at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents and other material used in maintaining park facilities and grounds. Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays. Position requires residency in agency provided housing.
      2) Classification may require successful completion of law enforcement training as prescribed by state law. Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver's License.
      3) Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
      Actual Job Location: Kings Mountain State Park.

      Full-time, 40 hours per week rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
