      Woods Bay State Park offers a close-up look at one of the last remaining large Carolina Bays on the Mid-Atlantic Coastal Plain. The 1,590-acre park, located in the coastal plains region, features a wide range of habitats including marsh, sandhills, oak-hickory forest and shrub bog. The habitats of Woods Bay can be explored by taking the nature trail encircling the mill pond or by walking the length of the 1,150 foot boardwalk, which provides views of alligators in the cypress tupelo swamp.

      Under general supervision, assists with overall operation and maintenance of a State Park. Performs diversified duties as governed by general instruction, policies and standard operating procedures of the Department. Assumes the responsibilities of the Park Manager in the absence of higher level employees.

      1. Assists with park administrative duties in accordance with Department policy and procedures and planning of long and short-term goals. Administrative duties include, but are not limited to time sheets, scheduling, camping rentals, reservations, and annual park planning for both Woods Bay and Lee State Parks.
      2. Collects and accounts for revenue and produce required reports.
      3. Instructs, supervises, and performs routine and preventative maintenance on grounds, buildings and equipment to meet established standards.
      4. Manages assigned specific operations to include public use areas, retail operations and facilities.
      5. Interprets the cultural and natural resources of the State Park Service to park visitors.
      6. Assists in control of inventories of equipment and supplies by issue, use and counts; completes data reports.
      7. Employee will be required to live in designated park housing to provide for security, safety, and emergency response.
      Associate degree in Park Management or related field with two (2) years park ranger experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

      Additional Requirements:
      1. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
      2. Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking and standing on uneven terrain, crawling and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents and other material used in maintaining park facilities and grounds.
      3. Position requires residence in agency-provided housing.
      4. Position requires flexible work schedule to include weekends and holidays.
      5. Must posses a valid South Carolina Driver's license.

      Actual Job Location: Woods Bay State Park

      Full-time, 40 hours per week rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
