- Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; AND
- Two years of experience inspecting and maintenance of playgrounds and playground equipment; OR
- Two years of experience in water quality/chemistry for pools and or water parks; And
- One year experience in a related trade: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, painting, or other skilled trades; OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted above; AND
- Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License; AND
- Appointing Authority may require a CDL B or A within the probationary period.
- Must obtain a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatics Facility Operator (AFO) certification within 6 months of employment.
- Must obtain a Playground Maintenance Course certificate within 6 months of employment.

- Repairs and adjusts plumbing, water lines, electrical wiring and equipment, plastering, furniture, shelves, doors, windows, and machines of various kinds.
- Participates in the erection of small structures and the more complex alteration, repair, and maintenance of plumbing, electric, and water systems and/or fixtures, brick, cement, HVAC, and carpentry work.
- Paints interiors and exteriors of buildings.
- Performs electric and acetylene welding, brazing, and fabrication.
- Operates power equipment to include lathes, drill presses, threading machines, air compressors and gas operated saws.
- Maintains and tracks inventory valued up to $10,000. Responsible for maintaining budgetary guidelines.
- Uses Computerized Maintenance Management System to keep daily records and logs on operating conditions and mechanical equipment repairs.
- Troubleshoots building system related issues using volt/ohm meter, infrared camera, and other related equipment.
- May supervise assigned laborers and trades helpers in maintenance work.
- Responds to work orders as needed. Including painting, pressure washing, and landscaping.
- Works closely with the manager of Parks in the preparation, specifications, and negotiation of Service Agreements. Negotiates with vendors, contractors and/or service providers.
- Report needed repairs to the manager and follow up with approved contractors to make repairs.
- Complete all required company trainings and compliance courses as assigned. Adheres to company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Recognize and respond effectively to all emergency situations.
- Adheres to OSHA, NFPA and other applicable safety codes.
- Maintains high standards, positive attitude, and professional appearance.
- May operate medium to heavy motorized equipment.
- Drives a vehicle to and from work sites.
- Cleans work site upon work completion.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Examines plans and specifications for new and existing playground related projects to ensure compliance with codes, ordinances, regulations, and local amendments on playgrounds and play surfaces.
- Coordinates and performs inspections and follow-up inspections on playground and fitness zones equipment and surfaces.
- Performs impact testing and certifies for compliance, as needed.
- Reviews design documents, scope of work, and makes necessary change recommendations, as needed.
- Modifies scope of work on existing projects, as needed.
- Maintains all compliance related and warranty related playground documentation.
- Inspects the construction of playground and certifies playground is safe to open or should be closed.
- Maintains current certificate and stays up-to-date professionally on playground equipment and maintenance field.
- Ensures all preventative maintenance is completed in accordance with the manufacturer’s manuals and guidelines.
- Maintain the highest standard of safety on all water park attractions in accordance with all safety related polices. Close, open, and assist with regular and emergency repairs as needed on splashpads.
- Responsible to ensure all water chemistry is within the CDC and local and state health department guidelines. Provide daily safety inspections on water park attractions and equipment and monitor and adjust associated technology.
- Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all splash pad attractions and equipment. Complete preventative maintenance, repairs and inspections on all water park attractions and equipment either personally or by contract. Provide and maintain all records of maintenance logs, inspections, chemical logs, and checklists as required by state law.
- Ensures all preventative maintenance is completed in accordance with the manufacturer’s manuals and guidelines. Responsible for code compliance inspections of the facilities and ensure all licenses and permits are current and up to date.
- Maintain aquatic areas by brushing, skimming, vacuuming, and scrubbing as required or hiring contractors to perform services.
- Anticipates potential malfunctions or breakdowns and takes appropriate action to prevent or minimize curtailment of services.
- Responsible for properly maintaining life/fire safety systems.
- Communicate planned outrages of services at splashpads with all interested parties.
- Review, digitally store, and comment on associated plans, warranty documents, and schematics.
- Supervise the upgrade, repair and warranty work on splash pads as required.
- Create and implement shut down procedures for out of line chemicals or breakdowns.
- Maintains current certifications and stays up-to-date professionally on the aquatics and maintenance field.
- Knowledge of procedures and techniques used in the care of playground equipment, fitness zones and splashpads.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and safety equipment involving the maintenance of playground equipment.
- Knowledge of reading and interpretation of plans and specifications.
- Knowledge of equipment, material and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance and related facilities.
- Knowledge and skills in HVAC, exhaust fans, pumps, hydraulics, drainage system, pool filtration, pool chemical controllers, basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
- Skill in the use of hand and electrical tools and equipment used in building and construction.
- Skill in recognizing an emergency and take appropriate action.
- Ability to read measurements and math skills to calculate appropriate chemical dosing.
- Ability to acquire and maintain a Certified Playground Safety Inspector certification.
- Ability to perform a variety of physical tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to operate basic computer functions (email, digital timecard, data entry, etc.).
- Ability to work effectively with clients, employees, vendors, patrons, and others.

- Maintain the ability to pass the background checks required for the position. These background checks may include but are not limited to:
- Criminal History Background Check using Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS)
- Level 1 and Level 2 Background screening (Ch. 435 Florida Statutes)
- Child Abuse, Abandonment and Neglect Record Check using the State Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS)
- Sex Offender and Sexual Predator record check using the list maintained by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE)
- Possess the necessary job-related license(s) or certification(s) that may include possession of a Florida Driver License (Class E) or an applicable Commercial Driver License (CDL).
Job Overview
Position performs skilled work in the inspection and maintenance of Parks and Recreation playgrounds, playground equipment, fitness zones, splash pads, and related structures, technology, and equipment. Will plan, inspect, monitor, repair, and verify safety compliance for playground equipment, fitness zones, and splash pads.
Salary
Minimum: $36,108.80- $46,940.40/ per year
