      Position: Part-time Bus Monitor Location: Transportation Terms of employment: approximately 20 hours/week Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or GED Physical Activities: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and Oral Communication; student management skills Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate Performance Responsibilities Exercise maximum regard for the safety and welfare of all transported students. Be knowledgeable of the assigned bus route. Assist bus driver with keeping assigned bus clean and sanitary at all times. Attend all bus monitor safety meetings and bus monitor training sessions. Submit to Drug and/or Alcohol testing when required by School Board, State and/or Federal policy. Communicate effectively with the school, staff and the public. Assist bus driver with inspecting the school bus at the end of each run to ensure that no student is left on the bus. Abide by procedures and policies regarding the safe and orderly operation of the bus including pick up and drop off procedures and loading and unloading procedures. Assist bus driver with conducting emergency evacuation drills as required. Assign and monitor required student seating arrangements as directed by the Transportation Coordinator or Designee. Follow roll call, check-lists, and seating procedures as directed by the Transportation Coordinator or Designee. Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Coordinator or Designee.
