      OMNI Television, Canada’s only multilingual and multicultural television station is seeking a passionate, team-oriented and innovative Assignment Editor with a can-do attitude to support daily newsgathering in our Vancouver, BC bureau.

      The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong knowledge of daily national news and news specifically catering to the BC region. You will be able to work as a team, mindful of the interests serving OMNI’s diverse communities. You will demonstrate sound editorial judgment and exceptional communication skills that will produce lead-worthy content.

      What you will do...

      • Work with producers/bureau managers to assign resources to stories of the day
      • Chase interviewees and provide guidance to ENG operators on editorial focus of assignments
      • Organize and book feeds
      • Coordinate coverage or technical arrangements with other Rogers departments or broadcast partners on news stories
      • Liaise with reporters, editors, cameras, producers, on story updates and content gathered
      • Communicate relevant story updates to teams
      • Liaise with partners across Rogers Sports and Media
      • Other duties as required

      What you will bring...

      • Proven experience working in an editorial capacity in a newsroom
      • Field experience as a writer, reporter or producer not required but an asset
      • Superior communication, writing, organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
      • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of newsroom computer software
      • Knowledge of Inception NRCS an asset but not requirement
      • Knowledge of the cultural and political landscape of Greater Vancouver and the Fraser Valley
      • Degree or diploma in journalism or broadcasting (or equivalent experience)
      • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and deliver under tight deadlines
      • A team-focused attitude
