      How You Will Contribute

      Reporting to the Manager of Family Programs, this person is dedicated to making the museum welcoming, accessible, age-appropriate, and exciting through a range of activities and opportunities designed for kids and their families. The Coordinator of Family Studio Programs coordinates all aspects of family studio programs. This work includes but is not limited to: administrating Art Kids Classes, teaching in the studios and galleries, contributing to planning and implementing monthly Family Festivals and Art Kids Summer. Candidate must have experience as a studio teacher and designing studio curricula around a Museum collection. General office work is required.


      Specifically, you will:
      • Oversees Art Kids Classes: hiring and training teaching artists, administering student registration, marketing classes, maintaining communication with families, scheduling programming, and coordinating studio materials
      • Supervises Art Kids Class Teaching Artists
      • Works alongside the Manager of Family Programs to design innovative art activities for children ages 3-12 and their families that make strong connections to the Museum’s collections
      • Supports larger program planning. Alongside the Family Programs team, plans for summer and Family Festivals.
      • Attend weekly Public Programs team meeting and Division Learning & Engagement meetings
      • Work cross-departmentally to advocate for the family visitor experience in close partnership with Special Events, Visitor Experience, Editorial and Graphic Design, Marketing and Communications, and Facilities
      • Performs other duties as assigned


      Your background and experience include:
      • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in art classrooms or museum education
      • Familiarity with art making materials and/or interest in art history and museums
      • Experience working with children (in formal and informal settings) and the general public
      • Ability to work in a team environment
      • Current knowledge around art education, museum theory, and process-art curriculum
      • Understanding of object-based and inquiry- based teaching methodologies
      • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills including public speaking
      • Excellent customer service skills, we welcome a background in retail, hospitality, and dining
      • Demonstrated commitment to promoting, contributing to, and supporting an equitable and inclusive culture (DEAI)
      • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills


      Position and Compensation Details
      • The hourly rate for this position is $26.90.
      • This position is Part-Time, Non-Exempt, and 30 hours per week.
      • This position is part of the AFSCME Local 397 bargaining unit.
      • This position reports to the Manager of Family Programs.
      • Physical requirements:
        • Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus
        • Able to lift 50 pounds. b. Able to move through crowded public spaces easily for hours at a time to direct family and student groups throughout the building. c. Able to sit on low stools and/or on the floor to interact with children
        • Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of the job.
        • PA Child Abuse Clearance and FBI Fingerprinting required
      • B ackground check required after a conditional job offer is made. Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of the job.
