    • Provide in-person and virtual interpretation during meetings, phone calls, IEPs, and conferences.

    • Translate school communications, documents, and forms between English and Spanish.

    • Serve as a cultural bridge between families and educational staff to promote understanding and inclusion.

    • Help staff improve cultural responsiveness and effective engagement with families from diverse backgrounds.

    • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English (both spoken and written).

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education preferred.

    • Previous experience as an interpreter, translator, or cultural liaison in an educational or human services setting.

    • Strong communication skills and sensitivity to cultural diversity.

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

    • This is a part-time, on-call position with flexible hours based on district needs.

    • Mileage reimbursement provided for travel between sites within Southeast Minnesota.

      Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) provides special education services to 12 School Districts and three Charter Schools within five counties of southeast Minnesota: Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona. HVED also has a Setting IV Behavior Program, S tudents A chieving I ntegrated S ervices (SAIL) that provides programming for students in grades K-12 with challenging behaviors currently receiving special education services. Along with the SAIL programs, HVED provides programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in a program named for Specialized Programming, Education, Comprehensive Therapy and other Resources for Unique Minds (SPECTRUM). Our SPECTRUM program is located in Hokah. HVED is committed to providing the best services to staff, students, and member districts in southeast Minnesota.     • Job Overview:
      Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) is seeking a bilingual (Spanish-English) Cultural Liaison / Interpreter to assist our staff, students, and families on an on-call, as-needed basis. This important position supports clear, respectful communication and strengthens partnerships between schools and Spanish-speaking families.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Provide in-person and virtual interpretation during meetings, phone calls, IEPs, and conferences.

      • Translate school communications, documents, and forms between English and Spanish.
