      Overview

      Seeking a Part Time Custodian to join our Geneva Team

      Our Part Time opportunities offer:

      SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:

      Responsible for the physical stewardship of property by cleaning and maintaining the Corps building, exterior of Quarters building. Assist with Corps food pantry operations as requested.

      Responsibilities

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Maintain cleanliness and minor repairs of buildings and grounds including lawn mowing and sidewalk shoveling.
      • Requisition and secure supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
      • Maintain equipment and supply closets/sheds.
      • Assist with risk management activities of facility.
      • Ensure the safety of all people in the Corps when a task is being performed by utilizing proper signage and blocking area when necessary to prevent accidents or injury.
      • Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders (etc) to prepare for programs and events as requested.
      • Follow a weekly cleaning schedule as provided.
      • Maintain chapel area and make preparations for Sunday meetings and classes.
      • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours.
      • Maintain vendor list for emergency needs.
      • Pick-up, unload and store food items ordered or donated for Food Pantry program operation.
      • Stock food pantry shelves from food storage reserves as necessary working with Food Pantry Coordinator.
      • Support general operation of food delivery programs working with Food Pantry Coord and Corps Officers.
      • Notify Corps Officers concerning the need for repairs, supplies or general facility operation needs.
      • Assist with all Christmas operations as requested/directed by Corps Officer.
      • Complete additional duties assigned by Corps Officers/Office Manager as requested.

      Qualifications

      SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS :

      • Working knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment.
      • Demonstrate acceptable cleaning methods.
      • Handyman skills preferred.
      • Good working knowledge of basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing and floor maintenance.
      • Experience with manual/power tools.
      • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
      • Ability to drive Corps vehicles for food pickups.
      • Willingness to attend training opportunities when available.
      • Valid NYS Driver License that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
