      Utah Valley University is seeking skilled interpreters to provide ASL interpretation and transliteration services that ensure equal communication access for individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting an inclusive learning environment by facilitating clear and accurate communication between students, faculty, and staff.

      This position offers flexibility, with schedules that may vary each semester based on student needs and interpreter availability, including possible evening or weekend assignments. It is an excellent opportunity for professionals who are passionate about accessibility, equity, and student success to apply their expertise in ASL interpretation while contributing to a welcoming and supportive university community.

      • Provides ASL interpreting/transliterating services in classes.
      • Provides ASL interpreting/transliterating services for additional service requests.
      • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
      • Other duties as assigned.
      Graduation from a standard senior high school or the equivalent, and must hold a current interpreter certification (state or national).

      Preferred Qualifications:
      Preference will be given to those with National Interpreter Certification (RIDNIC) and/or Utah Professional level. Preference will also be given to those who have completed an accredited Interpreter Training Program (ITP). Preference will be given to those skilled in Signed Exact English and/or Cued Speech Transliteration.       Licenses/Certifications:
      Must be certified in one of the following: Utah Novice, Utah Professional, RID/NIC, BEIKnowledge
      • Knowledge of the RID Code of Professional Conduct, policies, and procedures in a post-secondary environment, interpreting post-secondary educational classes and federal and state disability and confidentiality laws (ADA, Section 504, FERPA, etc.).
      Skills
      • Skills in American Sign Language interpreting and transliteration, time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
      Abilities
      • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain professional behavior at all times.
