      Wage: $16.00 per hour 3

      FLSA: Non-Exempt

      Reports to: Administrative Director

      WORK LOCATION: St. Clair County Housing Authority/Belleville, IL

      REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

      Good Character - No serious convictions (consent to criminal background check required); personal references from local area; ability to be insured under SCCHA’s automobile insurance policy. Trustworthy / honest.

      General - Familiarity with the local area; resident of SCCHA service jurisdiction preferred; current or former recipient of federal housing assistance preferred.

      Physical Condition - Ability to remain in a stationary position, lift, bend, and perform the tasks assigned and duties of the position.

      Education - High School Diploma or GED certificate required.

      Experience - Prior related work experience preferred. Demonstrated ability successfully perform the assigned work / job duties preferred.

      Skills - Excellent customer service skills. Verbal communication skills include answering phone calls and greeting the public.

      Familiarity with use of various office equipment such as postage scales and meters, word processors, computers, Microsoft Office/Outlook.

      Transportation - Valid driver’s license on file always; ability to furnish and willingness to use personal car for SCCHA business is essential. Must provide evidence of State minimum vehicle insurance coverage.

      All the above requirements and qualifications are necessary for initial employment and must be maintained as a condition of continued employment. The Housing Authority reserves the right to impose additional job-related requirements and qualifications, as necessary.

      This is a part-time, non-exempt position for work in the Belleville office with potential assignments throughout St. Clair County. This is an entry-level position.

      Receptionist duties include greeting and directing the public visiting the Central Office to the appropriate staff, answering the telephone (switchboard with multiple lines) and directing calls to appropriate staff, processing mail, computer input, and the use of various office equipment. The preferred candidate will be familiar with Housing Authority operating policies, procedures, and housing programs. Such other duties as may be assigned and required, including temporary assignments to perform duties in the central office. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED certification, valid driver’s license with good driving record, ability, and willingness to use personal car for Housing Authority business. Preference given to applicants with one-year related office work experience, excellent customer service, typing, good telephone voice/manners and experience operating a switchboard. Proficient computer, data input and keyboarding skills. Some familiarity with Microsoft Office/Outlook.

      The selected applicant must have a comprehension level and writing ability that allows them to successfully perform their work activities. Applicant must be able to pass a post-employment offer physical exam/drug test and criminal background check.
