Partnerships Marketing Director

It is the primary responsibility of the Partnerships Marketing Director to identify and cultivate strategic relationships with partners through multi-platform marketing initiatives that drive revenue, stakeholder value & brand awareness by creating and managing brand alignments that engage our internal (Local) and external audiences. This incumbent will also deliver results through key performance indicators (KPIs) to grow strategic partnerships and their subsequent outcomes.
Core Responsibilities:
• Create and execute a marketing partnership strategy and structure that provides maximum value to the organization.
• Audit existing partnerships regularly to assess overall value to the organization and provide recommendations on continuation.
• Proactively identify and pursue partners (paid and unpaid, on and off-Island) who align with Discover Puerto Rico’s partnership strategy, adding value and credibility to the Discover Puerto Rico brand by leveraging their own brand and resources to amplify our initiatives and objectives.
• Identify and lead key Puerto Rico government partnerships associated with the visitor economy. These may include but are not limited to the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, Puerto Rico Department of Natural & Environmental Resources, Puerto Rico Institute of Culture, and more.
• Lead and maintain an internal budget for the Partnerships Marketing division. This may include the management of local and federal funds. Collaborate with the Marketing Director to balance the budget on a monthly basis.
• Lead and sometimes collaborate with internal Directors on promotions and activations targeted to key audiences in the US Mainland and internationally.
• Represent Discover Puerto Rico in key local partnerships and events in which the DMO is a stakeholder. This may include events such as Junte Boricua, Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve, San Juan's 500th Anniversary, the PGA Puerto Rico Open golf tournament, and more. Oversee creation, planning, and coordination of these events, ensuring accurate execution of branded promotions on behalf of Discover Puerto Rico and partners.
• Lead collaboration between the Marketing Department and the Local Communications Department to identify areas for synergy and effectively implement and monitor brand standards to ensure alignment across departments.
• Review, analyze, and, when assigned, lead execution and performance optimization of the Travel Exchange program via Brand USA.
• Internally lead and collaboratively manage La IDEA (Island Digital Education Academy). This program will build on early successes, creating and improving the online presence and content of businesses associated with the visitor economy. This position will be responsible for communicating organizational goals related to the program to outside agencies and partners, successfully executing the program, and reporting monthly KPIs to internal leadership and stakeholders. It may also lead to subsequent projects on improving our business presence to visitors.
• Collaboratively manage the Discover Puerto Rico Co-op program with agency partners and the internal local communications department. The program will include a Core Partner Strategy and a Premier Partner Strategy. This position will share responsibilities with Local Comms, including coordinating with partner agencies and possibly an outside sales representative to communicate the program's goals effectively and track KPIs as established by the DMO leadership team. Additional responsibilities may include managing key program deliverables related to local program execution, such as insertion orders, invoices, creative review and approval, etc.
• Responsible for defining and achieving Key Performance Indicators defined by various programs, including those listed above, which may include but are not limited to maximizing ROI, engagement, maximizing brand impressions, obtaining and utilizing cooperative marketing funds, maximizing existing programs, and forging new partnerships and sponsorships.
• Report departmental KPIs as needed for internal and external stakeholders and reports including but not limited to the Discover Puerto Rico Board of Directors, Marketing & Sales Advisory Committee, Annual Report, Strategic Marketing Business Plan, etc.
• Create a reporting strategy to track and achieve departmental KPIs.
• Identify partnership opportunities, confirm alignment with brand strategy and organization goals, and effectively communicate opportunities to stakeholders, partners, and senior management. Local partnership opportunities (i.e., local chambers, not-for-profits, municipalities, NGOs, etc.) should be prioritized to enhance and grow the DMO’s local footprint and credibility.
• Monitor news, current events, market, and relevant industry trends specific to partnerships and promotions.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve departmental goals, including advertising, media planning, risk management, public relations, communications, and strategic sourcing.
• Research, recognize, actively pursue, and generate new brand alignment leads, including sponsorship sales and partner relationships; evaluate and oversee activation of opportunities.
• Collaborate with Digital Marketing Director and Leisure Sales Director to execute comprehensive, targeted multi-platform OTA and Wholesaler media and marketing plans to maximize the impact of new and existing relationships, including but not limited to advertising creative and placement, database marketing, internet marketing, social media execution, sweepstakes, etc.
• Work effectively with PRTC to ensure the creative assets for PRTC’s co-op agreements are aligned with Discover Puerto Rico brand guidelines.
• Oversee direction and execution of high-value programs, as well as creative and formal proposals received by or pitched to the DMO.
• Direct coordination of the organization’s initiatives and events by communicating programs and promotions, distributing collateral, maintaining brand standards, obtaining new sponsorships & allocating existing cooperative marketing funds, etc.
Key Credentials:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Hotel Management, Business Administration or relevant field
• At least six (6) or more years of experience in sales, marketing, events, media, or other relevant area.
• Proven track record in developing and delivering complex programs and projects with positive, measurable results
• Self-motivated and directed with the ability to work on individual projects as well as in a team, making empowered decisions and taking ownership of designated projects and areas
• Able to lead and mentor a team
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Able to work in a fast-paced, diverse, and inclusive environment
• Available to work out of regular work hours if there is a necessity
• Fully bilingual (English and Spanish)
