      About the Role:

      Job Summary

      Greets patients and customers. May provide hospital-wide information to visitors, patients and employees on phone numbers, patient condition and room locations, and other general hospital information by phone or in person.

      Minimum Job Qualifications

      Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

      • Presents a positive image of the Medical Center to the community at large, employees and patients by providing information as requested at the Information Desk.

      • Notifies patient or family members of any service delays.

      • Facilitates patient or family request for minor services.

      • Assists caller in any way possible abiding by the policies of the Medical Center regarding the release of information.

      • Assists all visitors in a friendly, helpful manner by giving specific directions.

      • Updates phone extension changes, changes in locations and personnel and other information.

      • Maintains proper supplies at Information Desk to carry out responsibilities.

      • Answer phone calls and provide information to patients, family members and Physicians. Provides direction and correctly answers questions from patients, families or visitors regarding hospital policy/procedures.

      • Maintains paging system, using beepers to notify family members to present to the front desk for update on patient's condition.

      • Contributes to maintaining a comfortable lobby for patients and their families by ensuring tidiness of the area and adequate seating.

      • Assist as needed or available in escorting/transporting patients by wheelchair to designated nursing unit or other area as needed.

      • May assist other staff members as needed.
