- Full accountability for PAP program operations, budget management, external partner relationships, and contracting.
- Full accountability for Patient Services PAP partners including HUB, free drug pharmacy, charitable foundation partner and all supporting PAP supplier partners.
- Lead PAP management including the development of business rules, and all communications (internal, patient, and provider).
- Lead the development of operational processes that are well documented, and adhered to and that operations are tracked, measured, and audited to ensure compliance with Takeda’s guidelines and SOPs.
- Develop the strategic plan and lead the evolution of PAP operations to maximize operational efficiency while anticipating future business and access issues.
- Lead contract negotiations with PAP suppliers with stakeholders including procurement.
- Lead, plan, consult and direct product launches including new indications, new formulations, line extensions, new products, and or new PAP programs.
- Leadership responsibilities include but are not limited to: PAP, Non-commercial Dispensing Pharmacy, Foundation Support, Case Management, and or HUB support.
- Lead PAPs across 7 suppliers, 5 therapeutic areas, and 18 products.
- Recognized expert on PAP industry trends impacting patient access and formulated proactive responses and solutions to payer initiatives that could negatively impact PAPs and our patients.
- Anticipate, assess, track, and mitigate potential issues, risks, and obstacles at multiple levels, providing escalation management oversight to resolution.
- Identify process improvement and implement opportunities to optimize effectiveness and outcomes while also anticipating future developments and including them in your process and program design.
- Ensure documentation, supporting materials, reports and project plans are relevant, accurate, and readily available, including status updates, work plans, and formal executive summaries. This role provides quality, reliable delivery of customer solutions utilizing appropriate planning, processes, and delivery of services.
- Complex projects and problems require strong project management across the function and post-project reviews occur with progress tracked and measured.
- Full accountability for ensuring quality analytical and decision-making capabilities are developed and applied to issue identification and solution generation.
- Challenging vendor partners to identify and overcome barriers to performance and to surpass existing expectations, striving for excellence.
- Excellent communication skills are required to ensure Director, Patient Assistance & Vendor Ops is well informed and kept up-to-date on potential issues and progress updates.
- Lead with strategic direction in the continuous development of the PAP function and programs.
- The position will need to lead and influence without authority and navigate within a matrix environment.
- Lead as the PAP expert maintaining current and forward-thinking industry perspective, knowledge of best practices, and benchmark on external trends.
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master's Degree preferred
- Extensive CRM and/or ERP experience, including requirements for external data feeds/integration and associated reporting required
- Proven track record of building effective working relationships with internal and external business stakeholders
- Extensive project management required
- People management experience preferred
- Ability to lead multiple projects and succeed in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- 7+ years of experience in vendor management or project management role, or a related field is required, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry required
- Pharmaceutical reimbursement experience preferred
- Proficiency in all Microsoft products is required, along with proficiency in data analysis and reporting required.
- Experience in Patient Services and patient assistance programs preferred.
- Skilled with developing statements of work and key performance indicators preferred
- 10-15% travel required

Job Description
Join Takeda as a Patient Assistance Associate Director out of our Lexington, MA office. You will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Patient Services Patient Assistance Programs (PAP), working cross-functionally with members of Patient Services, Managed Markets, Legal, Compliance, Training, Medical, Regulatory, and Field Teams (PAM and OAS) along with relevant customers and stakeholders. In this role you will manage multiple PAP partners (7) and programs (3) including guiding the strategic design, implementation, and operational management of contracted services across the brands that are represented in the programs.
How you will contribute:
The ideal candidate for this role will lead the Rare Disease and Hematology PAPs. In addition, other PAPs may be moved under their leadership, both existing and yet-to-be-launched programs. This position will work independently and will be required to resolve complex problems and issues:
