      The Opportunity- Nursing Coop: Bigelow 7 - Medical Unit

      The start date for this position is Monday July 1, 2024 and the end date is Friday, December 27, 2024. This nursing cooperative with MGH is exclusive to Northeastern University Nursing School Program students.

      Why This Role Is Important?

      Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the Critical Care Technician (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment. Bigelow 7 is seeking a full time PCA, with Day and Night shift availability, and to provide rotating weekend and holiday coverage. Bigelow 7 and Bigelow 12, are a combined unit of Emergency Department Observation (EDOU) patients, who are Adult medical, surgical, orthopaedic, and neurology patients from the Emergency Department that need only a short stay at MGH.

      Schedule

      • Day (7a-7pm) and Night (7pm-7am) shifts
      • 36- 40 hours per week.
      • Rotational holiday and weekend schedule

      What are we looking for?

      • PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs.
      • Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.

      • Current enrollment in Northeastern University Nursing School Program.
      • HS Diploma required.
      • Current CPR certification.
      • Completion of the MGH PCA Skills checklist with at least one clinical rotation completed.
