- Work requires a high school level of knowledge (graduate or equivalent) in order to prepare reports, keep records and deal effectively with people.
- Three to nine months of healthcare experience preferred. Venipuncture and EKG skills required.
- Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant/Patient Care Assistant Training Program including EKG and venipuncture skills or equivalent.
- Heartsaver Certification from American Heart Association and/or BCLS.
As an integral part of the clinical care team, the Patient Care Associate is responsible for patient care and support activities promoting patient focused care within the Specialty Service. The Patient Care Associate supports the rehabilitation therapists in patient care activities, including: routine patient care treatment plans such as therapeutic exercise and activities of daily living; maintaining a safe, clean environment in gym; and other duties as needed.

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $26.21 - $28.45 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Responsibilities
Performs and records patient's vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature and respirations. Assists patient with activities of daily living, such as feeding, bathing and/or toileting. Orients patients to clinical environment. Assists patient with transfers, ambulation and all levels of mobilization. Monitors and assists patients in performing therapeutic exercise and activities. Assist with exercise and wheelchair mobility groups. Maintains a safe, clean and functional environment, including ensuring that mats and therapy equipment are cleaned between patient use in compliance with infection control policies. Under the direction of the therapist, apply hot and cold packs. Performs one to one observation of patients on special observation status. Maintains "isolation status" for patients according to set procedures. Utilizes Vocera system according to sign in/sign out protocol where activated. Performs other duties as assigned, including generating reports. Is open and responsive to the diverse backgrounds and experience of other people and promotes an environment that is sensitive to cultural diversity.
