PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION:
The primary purpose of your job as a member of the nursing staff is to assist the nursing staff under the supervision of a licensed nurse. You will participate in a wide range of patient care activities, for a mainly geriatric population, functions and services for assigned patients, which includes direct care and task oriented assignments.

DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY:
Reports to the charge nurse and nurse manager.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT / DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. IMPLEMENTATION OF PATIENT CARE
1. Implements clinical and technical aspects of care and nursing orders in accordance with established policies and procedures. Intervenes with proper technique, procedure and safety precautions to meet individual needs of patient.
2. Communicates information to licensed nursing personnel.
3. Respects dignity and confidentiality of patient while acting as an advocate.
4. Provides a safe, secure and healing environment for the patient.
5. Functions within limits of hospital and nursing department policies and procedures.
6. Performs in a calm and professional manner during crisis and/or emergency situations.

B. ACCOUNTABILITY: QUALITY OF WORK
1. Adheres to nursing dress code and wears identification badge.
2. Demonstrates organizational skills in providing nursing care by ability to prioritize responsibilities and adapt to changing workloads.
3. Rooms patients and prepares patient for RN or MD.
4. Performs the following per policy:
A. Temperature
B. Pulse
C. Respiration
D. Blood Pressure
E. Weight/Height
F. O2 Sat
G. Patient personal hygiene
H. Positioning and transferring of patients
I. Specimen collection
J. Glucometer
K. Patient transportation
5. Maintains open communication channels with all colleagues and supervisors.
6. Completes necessary documentation per policy
A. Vital Signs in Epic
7. Coordinates and schedules patient appointments
8. Re-stocks rooms, submits purchase orders, coordinates equipment maintenance.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• High School graduate or equivalent
• Two years of RN nursing program including clinical rotations
• BLS certification

EXPERIENCE:
• Previous medical/surgical experience preferred
