Job Overview
Shriners Children's Philadelphia has an opportunity for a full-time Patient Financial Specialist (Monday - Friday, no weekends).
Responsibilities
The Financial Counselor provides follow-up on all patients identified as uninsured and determines eligibility for State CHIP, SHC Charity Care or Shrine Assistance and facilitates the application/enrollment process. The essential duties include, means testing, insurance verification, gathering of supporting documentation, health plan updates in the computer, pt./family education on obtaining and maintaining benefits, and accountability for the management of the following work lists in Computer• Primary uninsured• Pending Charity• Pending Medicaid• Insurance Denied.
Qualifications
Preferred:
Associates Degree Preferred
3-5 year experience in financial counseling, insurance verification, registration in a medical office or hospital setting.
Comprehensive knowledge of Medicaid, insurance terminology, and third-party payer systems preferred.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) speaking and writing skills are required.
Good time management and organizational skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to deal with confidential information.Ability to communicate and interact with all members of the Shriners team in a professional and courteous manner.
