      Job summary

      Patient administration underpins the patient journey and supports clinical teams in delivering high quality patient care and can make a real difference to the patient experience. Effective and efficient patient administration supports management through ensuring a high standard of data quality and by making the best use of capacity and resources.

      Main duties of the job

      The post holder has responsibility for the provision of a professional, comprehensive and efficient administrative service, which is effectively delivered to all patients and members of the Department. This will be through the delivery of a comprehensive administrative service to a specialty team. This will involve providing a full administration service to the consultant team and taking responsibility for managing the whole patient pathway in line with the Trust Elective Access policy.

      Ophthalmology-Horton General Hospital

      35 hours 12-month fixed term

      We are seeking to appoint a 35-hour Patient Pathway Administrator to join our friendly team within Ophthalmology on a 12 month fixed term contract. The post will be based at the Horton General hospital.

      This post is crucial to the on-going development of the service and would suit a candidate who has excellent organisational and communication skills. You will be expected to liaise with staff and colleagues at all levels. You will have proven secretarial skills with the ability to prioritise and manage your own workload to tight deadlines. You will need to demonstrate initiative and flexibility in your approach and be able to work in a pressurised and busy environment. The successful candidate will also manage each patients pathway in a timely and efficient manner.

      Knowledge of the Trust's Electronic Patient Record System (EPR) and knowledge of elective access standards would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given.
