      Job summary

      This is an exciting opportunity to join the Admin Team in the Oncology Department, within Cancer & Associated Specialties.

      As part of a team you will be responsible for the audio typing and transcription of clinical correspondence across all specialties within the Division.

      Skills we are looking for are:

      Excellent spelling and grammar

      Good keyboard skills

      Good IT skills

      Good attention to detail

      Willingness to learn and develop

      We will:

      Offer a complete training package with NHS systems

      Support and mentor to develop skills

      Main duties of the job

      Ensuring all clinical correspondence are typed and process within specified timescales.

      Completing or escalating actions as required.

      A knowledge of medical terminology is desired but not essential, as will form part of training.

      To prioritise your workload with constantly changing demands and meet agreed deadlines.

      Use your own initiative and respond to queries within and outside of the Organisation with a professional manner.

      This is an exciting opportunity to work in as part of a team in a fast paced Secretarial Support Teamin the Oncology Department.

      Core working hours are Monday-Friday, between 8.00am to 5.00pm but these can be agreed with your manager.

      After an initial training period, we can offer flexibility in the form of working on site and working from home, with the expectation that at least one day will be spent on Campus.

      Accurately transcribing from Winscribe digital dictation and Winscribe Speech Recognition digital dictation, outpatient clinic letters and miscellaneous clinical correspondence to a high standard with specified timescales.

      Responsible for the production of discharge summaries, clinical papers and material for publication from either audio or copy typing.

      Use judgement and initiative to prioritise the importance/urgency of particular requests within defined guidelines

      Undertake daily peer audit of clinical correspondence to ensure a high standard of accuracy and quality of work.

      Ability to exchange sensitive or contentious information with diplomacy and in a confidential manner.

      Liaising with outpatient administrator re. appointments and necessary important clinical information to ensure patients are seen on their pathway without delay.
