      Job Description

      Provide clear responses to patients who have concerns about their billing with USACS. Uses training and knowledge to identify and resolve billing and insurance issues. Collect payments and offer payments options per outlined policies. A flexible communicator and good listener who can multitask to solve problems.

      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

      • Manage inbound calls from patients, patient representatives, attorneys, and insurance companies.
      • Identify caller’s needs and resolve inquiries promptly and accurately.
      • Research and document billing concerns using documented standard work, standard operation procedures, various matrices, and other resources available.
      • Use the escalation process appropriately to support requests needed.
      • Effectively communicate information related to USACS billing policies and procedures as it applies to the patient’s account.
      • Helps to identify trends and takes action to help prevent negative impact on the patient or USACS.
      • Maintains patient and clinician confidentiality and professionalism, always following departmental and HIPAA guidelines.
      • Adheres to USACS Code of Conduct, House Rules, Missions, and Values
      • Performs various duties such as researching accounts, processing payments/adjustments, and processing incoming correspondence from patients, attorneys, insurance companies, etc.
      • Adhere to the department work schedule and attendance policy to ensure adequate coverage of call center hours.

      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

      • Ability to provide Customer Service to patients, hospital staff, co-workers, etc.
      • Strong phone skills and active listening, emphasizing communication with patients/customers, co-workers, and management.
      • Adapt/respond to different types of callers while maintaining professionalism, composure, and empathy.
      • Knowledge of and skill navigating in a Windows environment; Excel, Word, and Outlook
      • Knowledge of medical insurance and its terminology
      • General knowledge of basic ICD-10 and CPT coding is helpful.
      • Excellent communication skills
      • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
      • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
      • Ability to take the initiative and work independently and within a team.
      • Ability to recognize trends and pay close attention to detail – problem-solving and problem analysis.
      • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
      • Displays an eagerness and capacity to learn when faced with new situations and problems.
      • Ability to accept and apply constructive feedback.
      • Must be comfortable asking for patient payments and settling account balances.

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

      • High school diploma or equivalent.
      • Call Center, customer service, medical insurance, or billing experience is helpful.

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

      • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods and occasionally walk, stand, bend, stoop, and lift to 15 pounds.
      • Required to have close visual acuity to perform job.

      Hourly Rate: $12.91 - $23.88

      Hourly rate may be determined on several factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, experience, education, geographical location and requirements stated in job description.
