- Follows all safety procedures.
- Determines speed and direction of machine based on knowledge of compressibility of material
- Operates self-propelled steel wheeled, rubber tired, sheep foot, vibratory, segmented, or other type roller to compact earth, subgrade, subbase, shoulder materials, or stone cover on surface treatment and asphalt surfaces.
- Ability to operate roller in accordance with an approved method of compaction.
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections and reports any problems to the mechanic, supervisor, or designated person to insure proper maintenance of equipment according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Performs routine fueling, lubrication and servicing of equipment.
- Complies with all Federal, State, and corporate policies.
- Maintains the neat appearance of equipment.
- Attends all scheduled sessions and safety meetings
- Possess simple oral and written communication skills, ability to operate equipment in forward and reverse directions
- Ability to respond quickly to adverse situations and equipment malfunctions
- One or more years of roller experience
- Willingness to work outside daily/year round
- Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed

SUMMARY
Boxley Materials, a company of Summit Materials is looking for a mechanically inclined, safety-oriented Pav er Operator to regularly operate multiple pieces of equipment. This position is critical to the safe, responsible, and productive operation of various equipment. Additional duties may include performing equipment checks, general labor-related duties and maintenance as needed. These positions are full-time, seasonal with 9+ months of consistent work per year. Overtime can and is often required during peak season (April – November).
