      Alabama State University invites applications to fill the position of Payload Rack Officer (PRO). The selected candidate will manage all ground commands of U.S. payload systems and experiments on the station, the command link, receive and send command files to the mass storage device, and configure the system to allow flight controllers in the Payload Operations Integration Center and remote users to send commands to their equipment on the space station.
      Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Provide real-time command and control of NASA facilities
      • Expedite processing of experiment to the space station (EXPRESS) Racks, Window Observational Research Facility (WORF, Minus Eighty-degree laboratory Freezer for ISS (MELF), and EXPRESS Logistics Carriers,
      • Coordinate and monitor use of the Payload Support Systems resources, which include owner, waterflow, vacuum and nitrogen gas usage for all NASA payload facilities and sub-rack payloads
      • Manage payload Multiplexer/De-multiplexer (MDM) computer operations and services for all payloads, including any services used by international partner payloads
      • Configure rack interfaces to properly support payloads and begin monitoring the health and status of the payload and the NASA facility
      • Plan and execute troubleshooting activities and collaborate with the payload developer to help diagnose any interface problems with facility racks

      Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, excellent customer service orientation, and negotiation skills are required.EEOC STATEMENT:
