      Job Summary
      We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Accountant to manage end-to-end payroll operations across a multi-state, multi-location organization. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of payroll transactions, compliance with tax and labor regulations, and timely reconciliation and reporting of payroll data. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for over 2,100 employees, including hourly and salaried staff. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage routine and non-routine payroll responsibilities in a deadline-driven environment.

      Key Responsibilities

      Payroll Processing & Audits
      • Process and audit weekly hourly and salaried payroll in UKG (UltiPro), ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
      • Execute off-cycle checks, correction payrolls, and retroactive pay adjustments as needed.
      • Review and reconcile timecards, pay rules, retro pay workflows, and employee records for accuracy.
      • Maintain payroll calendars and manage payroll file uploads, reports, and approvals.
      • Administer and validate Rapid Pay Card setups and direct deposit requests.

      Compliance & Tax
      • Set up and maintain tax locations for remote or relocated employees.
      • Update SUI rates and support quarterly and annual tax reconciliation processes in collaboration with UKG Tax Services.
      • Process W2-Cs, handle inquiries from federal and state agencies, and support multi-jurisdictional tax filings.
      • Support Canada year-end adjustments (T4 corrections, manual adjustments, etc.).

      Bonus & Incentive Payrolls
      • Administer various bonus and incentive programs such as Gainshare, PFA payouts, Service Awards, etc., ensuring data accuracy and proper processing schedules.
      • Coordinate approvals and reporting with location controllers and HR partners

      Garnishments & Legal Orders
      • Respond to wage attachment and child support orders, setting up and tracking deductions; maintain wage attachment spreadsheets and upload all supporting documentation to employee records.

      Benefit Integration
      • Process and reconcile 401(k) deferral changes, loan adjustments, arrears reports, and benefit enrollment updates; review and update benefit group codes, earnings eligibility, and salary continuation (STD) pay where applicable.

      New Hires & Terminations
      • Audit and process new hire data daily, ensuring correct setup of pay rules, bonus codes, and tax configurations.
      • Send HR Benefits Memos to terminated employees and process final payouts.

      Reporting & Audits
      • Run and submit reports for KPMG audits, Labor Statistics (monthly/quarterly), Manufacturing Surveys, and Workers’ Comp.
      • Compile W2 apportionment reports, officer compensation, and various corporate reports for year-end compliance.
      • Assist with corporate foundation reporting, moving expenses, auto allowances, and other specialty items.

      Qualifications

      • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred.
      • Minimum 3 years of payroll processing in a high-volume, multi-state environment.
      • Proficiency in UKG (UltiPro) or other enterprise payroll systems (ADP, Ceridian, etc.).
      • Strong knowledge of FLSA, ACA, and federal/state/local payroll regulations.
      • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, conditional formatting).
      • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-service mindset.

      Preferred Qualifications
      • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC certification.
      • Experience supporting payroll in union and non-union environments.
      • Familiarity with Kronos (timekeeping), BI reporting tools, and complex bonus/incentive structures.
